Detering Orchards is famous for fresh produce and U-Pick farms in the Willamette Valley neighborhood. They dedicate to bringing customer farm-to-table food, as people are now more caring about the freshness. To expand into a global market, they are introducing hazelnuts to the farm. However, with the growing tension of the trade war between the U.S. and China, Ella Jones, the assistant retail manager at Detering, has much more to concern now.
Annual Project Hope Kid’s Fair Serves Hundreds of Kids in Eugene

First launched by the local community faith organization One Hope in 2011, Project Hope has collaborated with neighborhood public schools, churches and business partners to serve the families and children in need on the last weekend every August. They hand out free backpacks, shoes and school supplies to meet the tangible needs of students returning back to school, along with a fun-filled environment with entertainment to leave them a sweet summer memory.

Hong Kong has been rocked by more than 10 weeks of protests, violence, and chaos, and it still shows no signs of dying down. Initially, people were opposing the extradition law amendment, which would allow case-by-case extraditions between Hong Kong and Mainland China. They argued that the bill will give China more control over Hong Kong. The peaceful rally finally heated up as Hong Kong authorities were using excessive force to quell demonstrations. Taiwan (Republic of China, ROC) celebrated its 107th birthday on Wednesday, October 10, but this might be the toughest and the loneliest birthday it has ever been. The Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of China just sent a letter to 44 foreign airlines, pressuring them to change their references to Taiwan into “Taiwan, China,” instead of listing Taiwan as an independent nation. Dozens of airlines around the world have complied by the deadline on July 25, as no one wants to mess with the soon-to-be largest air-travel market.
NON-CITIZEN VOTING: WHO HAS THE RIGHT?

The College Park City Council voted 4-3 with one member, Fazlul Kabir, abstaining on an amendment to the city’s charter that would allow non-U.S. citizens to cast ballots in municipal elections. Shortly after the decision, the amendment failed. “It is with considerable embarrassment and regret that we acknowledge our oversight regarding the vote on the proposed Charter Amendment to allow voting by non- citizens in College Park City elections.”
A GRAND MUSICAL VOYAGE IN BALTIMORE

Over 4500 people celebrated the Running Music Festival held by Night Nation Saturday. Filled with live music, light-shows, and dancers, participants embarked on an electrifying, exhilarating electronic dance music (EDM) journey. There were live DJs, free giveaways, and selfie areas. People could run, walk, or even dance through the whole way. The Main Stage After Party, the highlight of the festival, was awaiting at the finish line.
